two issues about figured-bass

Postby VincentC » Mon Sep 19, 2016 8:22 am

I'm looking at the figured-bass element, and notice two issues
- parentheses type is only available at the figured-bass level, not at the figure level. But it's common to have a non-parentheses number with a number between parentheses below it (see image). It would be a good idea to have the parentheses type also at the figure level.
- to get a slash through a number, it is advised to use a suffix 'slash'. But different styles have both slash 'up' and slash 'down'. It could be interesting to implement that as a specification for slash.
Any other suggestions on implementing this properly in an xml-file would be welcome.
Best regards,

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for raising these issues. I think that these are both addressed in the W3C Music Notation Community Group issue 94. I see that did not have the V3.1 label like the rest of the SMuFL issues, so I have added that.

Please feel free to propose your own solutions as we discuss this issue. For instance, maybe it would be better to just add a parentheses attribute to the figure element than to add the editorial entity?
