I tried to go to the old Garritan forum and it seems to be down. I thought I went there a few weeks back and it was working. Any idea?

Yup, it's down. Not sure why. I've sent a note to a couple of people who may be able to contact the owner, but our "main man" Randy B, who was able to contact the owner in the past, is also among the missing these days and doesn't come around as much as he once did.

All we can do it wait, I guess..

Wow, I hope it can be fixed. There was so much archive info there and I really got a lot from those people. I know some are on here, but it doesn't seem to be the same...

Update- I have heard back from one person who formerly was able to contact the administrator -who went by the handle "Pa Pa Chalk"- and learned that this person was only able to contact the Admin through a PM sent via another NS page (there were several). Both he and I swore to get an email for the administrator, but Murphy's Law has intruded, and neither of us did.

On my own hook, I've tried a couple of lookup tricks, but just can't get to any portion of the NS site. Appears that the entire site is down.

So for now, unless someone who has migrated here actually has Pa Pa Chalk's email addy, we are all stuck waiting, it looks like.

I will contact Randy and see if he can reach Pa Pa Chalk. The saga continues, eh?

I was able to contact Randy Bowser. He didn't know anything, but he said that the NS forum has been hacked before. Unfortunately, it has some vulnerable code. Pa Pa Chalk has always been able to get it going again; presumable he will this time as well.

Seems like nameserver records are all gone, can't do a DNS lookup for northernsounds.com. Server could still well be up, if anyone had its IP address...

Doing a whois shows an update date of March 9, 2016 for northernsounds.com. Also a 'clientHold' status, which is sorta weird...

Well, whatever it was, PaPa C seems to have rectified the error. As of two minutes ago (3:20PM PDT), the NS Forums are back!

Nothing new since the 8th, btw.
