How to represent note 'H' in MusicXML?

Postby blmara » Sun Jan 24, 2016 10:37 am

Hi! MusicXML uses letters A through G to represent note step and harmony root/bass steps. How should one encode the H note step of German/European style instead of step B? I.e. if I would like to have chord H7 instead of B7?

I think this can be done like this:
Code: Select all
<harmony>
  <root>
    <root-step text='H'>B</root-step>
  </root>
  <kind text='7'>dominant</kind>
</harmony>

I don't know how many applications will support this, but this is the way it can be done in MusicXML.

Hans has it correct. Finale should export like this when using German chord style.
