Violin Midi Controller

Hopefully there is someone who can help me out with this. I am looking for an electric violin or violin midi controller that would allow me to input notes when playing it, much like using a keyboard midi controller. I understand that there is a prototype of the O-Bow violin midi controller. I was wondering if this item has been released or when it will be released, or if there is a similar product that will allow me to achieve my goal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Electric violins have been around for quite awhile, but that's not what you would need. You're looking for a violin MIDI controller - an alternative to keyboards, drums, guitar MIDI controllers.

Looking around online, I was surprised that it seems like after all this time, a violin MIDI controller is still not something readily available, or available at all--? I found references from 2011 to the eLektra Performance System, and it seemed very promising - but I can't find info on it any newer than that. The Electric Violin Shop is listed on several web pages as the exclusive distributor for the eLektra Performance System, but at their site, it's not listed.

So I've used the contact form at the Electric Violin Shop site, asking for any info they could provide. I'll let you know what they say!
