GPO5 / Aria and FL Studio

Postby Mykyndryd » Tue Mar 22, 2016 10:33 am

Well it's been a couple of weeks since I upgraded to GPO5 and I thought I'd take it for a real test drive.

I downloaded Mozart's Requiem Part 1 midi file from and (with their kind permission) substituted the general midi instruments with GPO using FL Studio and a little help from Magnus choir to beef out the choir basses.

Here's the result . It's part tutorial / part demo so I talk through most of it (all of it in fact) but thought I'd share. I'm so impressed by the sound quality of the libraries and in particular the soprano choir voicing.

Come on Gary, let's have a word builder / syllable editor on the wish list for choir development please ;)

I haven't played with this yet (Alter Ego [Free], By Plogue [Same folks who do Aria Player for Garritan]), and I'm not sure if it's equipped to put together your own sound-banks for a true chorus or classically trained voice, but it might be worth having a look.

ChipSpeech [Not Free, but there is a free demo available] might also be of interest:

More realistic engines that sound less 8bit:
For choirs (Also relatively expensive):

Vocaliod is reasonably priced 'pop voice singer' and comes in English (Cyber Deva), and might be interesting...some of the vocal synthesis technology out there is pretty convincing in the right 'mix' of music.

Other projects from around the world worth hunting with a web-search (might not be easy to find in English) include titles like:
