JABB Vibrato Question

Postby rsmproductions » Sun Dec 13, 2015 2:07 am

I am using the JABB muted trumpets and trombones in a Sonar environment. I am having issues getting any vibrato to work and could use some help. I am using Kurzweil K2500 as my controller and just today assigned a slider to the controller for vibrato as listed in the setup menu of JABB. As I record and push the slider forward and backward I see the vibrato dial on the Aria player moving back and forth and I see information being recorded on the track but I don't hear any vibrato. This is occurring with all of these instruments.

I appreciate any help you can give...

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard,

There are two controls needed for vibrato within JABB3 and the ARIA player.
It sounds as if you have created a slider for cc#17, vibrato speed.
However, you'll get nothing without 'after touch'.

With many keyboards, after playing the note, further pressure on the key (already pressed) will produce 'after touch' MIDI data. I'm fairly sure (but not certain) that the Kurzweil will produce this if it's appropriately set up. I'm not a Kurzweil expert. My Yamaha AN1x does.

It's the after touch that actually makes the vibrato 'play' at the speed set by cc#17.
The amount of key pressure will create the depth of vibrato.

Regards,
John.
