Harmonium sound in GPO

Postby Fabio Biolcati » Sat Dec 06, 2014 12:28 pm

Hi all.
How can I mimic the sound of an harmonium starting from organ patches available in GPO4?
Any suggestion?
Thank you

Hello, the only suggestion I have is get Garritan World Instruments. The concertina in there sounds very similar.

Or, you could try a plug in, if using a DAW, like this...

Thank you for your replies Steve.
The most helpful one seems to be the latter.
Is it a Mac working VST?

Hi Fabio, these instrument "plug in's" are referred to as VSTI's ( virtual studio technology instrument). There are many for free online by searching a few keywords. The Link above was at the top of the search in Google. However, one needs to be careful where they get freeware from, as some sites have freeware containing malware. KVG audio (big tick audio) is a reputable freeware site. There are others. I don't think you can use these plug ins in finale alone, or the aria player in finale. I Don't have enough information from you to give advice, and I barely have a grasp of the process myself. Basically, if you are using the aria player within a daw (digital audio workstation), you are able to plug in these instruments to a channel. But doing this is a process. And requires a learning curve. See the animation in the thread "using a single instance of the aria player in reaper" to get an idea of what is involved. I am assuming that you are using only finale with gpo4, and haven't gotten into using a daw yet, and you may, or may not want to pursue using a daw. Lastly, there are many approaches to creating audio from files created in finale, I have been trying to learn only one approach, and only recently began to understand the process I chose.

Here's a file of mine using garritan world instruments, which uses the concertina patch. The concertina enters at 1:00. http://m.soundcloud.com/steve-wisnoski/ ... -tues-9-30

Fabio, I looked, and I Don't believe you can use that plug in for Mac. I also noticed you listed pro tools collecting dust. So you have used a daw, I don't know how much experience you have with this, but my statements above is the extent of my understanding, good luck.

Fabio, I just listened to your version of "It came upon a midnight clear" and you are a fabulous composer. Did you render this from Finale ? And did you use primarily GPO4 ? It is obvious you are a true professional with the software and composition, so please disregard my "baby talk" regarding vsti's and DAW's, I was only trying to be helpful.

This may be sacrilege, but the GWI harmonium sounds quite similar to the SoftSynth accordian.
