Aria Engine Update Windows 1.719

Postby gogreen » Thu May 08, 2014 3:23 pm

I see that Plogue offers an Aria engine update. Has anyone tried this update with the Windows Aria player v1.620? My Aria engine is currently v1.670.

Not yet, but I'm going to give it a whirl and I'll let you know, Arthur. I'll try it on my laptop first and hope it doesn't gum up the works. Thank for posting this.

In a moment of bravery this morning, I installed the engine update on both my laptop and desktop machines (both Windows 7). Everything seems to be OK so far.

the aria player upload page says

"- ARIA PLAYER users should first look at updating their full ARIA PLAYER before running any ARIA ENGINE update.
- An ARIA Player package also contains the ARIA Engine.
- Since version 1.111, the ARIA Player version always match the version of the ARIA Engine packaged with it.
- If the version of the Engine provided with the ARIA Player is older than the Engine offered below, users can update their Engine. Otherwise, running the update below is not recommended."

so, this update would mean the aria player, and the aria engine, would not match, therefore as it says, "is not recommended. Whaddya think, Art ?

I could be wrong, but I think people run into problems with engine updates when the Aria player itself isn't the latest available. So far, so good for me with the engine update.

MM Support just sent me the following message:

"Thanks for contacting MakeMusic customer support. As long as you have the latest version of the Aria 'Player', you will have no issues after installing the latest Aria 'Engine' that just released. The most current version of the Aria Player is 1.620. ...."

I did the install on my laptop and gave it a few laps around the parking lot so to speak with no issues. I think it's safe. I will update my desktop next. Cheers!

Let me preface this with the warning that if you are perfectly happy with how the Aria player is running, you should probably leave the Aria engine well enough alone. That being said...

Huzzah!

This update seems to have cleaned up many issues that have been torturing me for some time now using 1.626 in FL Studio 11.

1) Cavernous Reverb Gone!
With 1.670 update the convolution seemed out of control. I could correct the problem some what by reduding the main level knob down from the 12:00 position near the minimum at 7:00 but it still didn't sound quite right. With 1.719 it's like butter again.

2) Issue with World Instruments seems to be fixed.
I remember several users were having issues with the World Instrument flutes with 1.670. They sound fine to me in the 1.719 update.

3) 64-bit version Now loads in FL Studio!
I've never been able to use the 64-bit version aria player for issues I've always blamed on FL Studio. Seems to work fine now. This is great as my lower 4 GB are pretty crowded these days.

4) Audio Drop-outs seem to be fixed!
I was increasingly suffering a number of Audio drop-outs in version 1.626, mostly with the GPO percussion and COMB/IO/JABB instruments as well as some nasty burst of static that would rudely spit out on occasion that I could never find the source for. For some tracks I was stuck in a constant loop of with some instruments of rendering a single tracks to audio with 2-5 takes until it managed to render correctly. Now my most complicated pieces are rendering with the live midi streams without drop-outs and without freezing to audio.

Beautiful! Nice work Plogue!

How does one pronounce Plogue anyhow
Plog?
Puhlowg?
Plohgeh?
Plog-gy?
Plo-gay?
Plo-gway?
Plog-gweh?
Peh-log-uh-ay?

I think "Plogue" rhymes with "Vogue."
