...the Christmas CD project will now be run entirely through this official Garritan/MakeMusic avenue and that Gary/MakeMusic will not involve the Northern Sounds forums.

Since the majority of online Garritan users frequent the original forum at NorthernSounds, and not this new forum, it's up to us to keep them in the loop about this, Michael. As soon as there's an official sign-up list, let's be sure to start a parallel thread in General Discussion at NS.

That's right, Derrek. We need to make sure there aren't duplicated projects, and that everything being submitted is either in the public domain or original - traditional public domain carols being the more preferred. Any song still in copyright can't be used.

I've just remembered more info regarding being involved with our Christmas CD which has arisen during the past few years.

The first is that those who send in entries retain full ownership/copyright of their arrangement/recording/original work. Neither Gary nor MakeMusic are looking to grab this from anyone. However, they will need signed permission to use those songs that are published on the CD and to offer these for download etc.

I have added the above to my original post.

I hope this is all generating interest amongst folk here and that other members reading these posts may be just that bit tempted to sign up and start work on a Christmas song.

Since this is my first year and getting into Garritan/Sonar...I'm going to look at "Silent Night". Any chance that the "No Medley" rule can be lifted? So many good pieces to medley for this one.
