Community Christmas 2014 (Volume 11)

Community Christmas 2014 (Volume 11)

Postby Michael.B » Wed Jan 01, 2014 10:27 am

Gary Garritan, in his post for our new Christmas album wrote:

[Quote]
It makes me especially glad to be a part of this tradition and I hope we will do this for more than another ten years.
[Unquote]

My thoughts presently are that if this beautiful tradition is to continue for the 11th year, then it will probably now be run from these new Garritan forums.

Last year the project for 2013 (Volume 10) was started December 27th and folk began nominating and reserving their songs. If the project is continuing this year I already know what I want to offer and would like to nominate early this time to be sure of reserving my song.

Dan has confirmed to me that the decision is with Gary and MakeMusic.

In the meantime, I am sure that everyone involved will hope that our Christmas tradition lives on.

I have also posted this in the NS forums.

OK - I'll look forward to a definitive word from MM on this. Do they want to continue with the Christmas album? For now - I need to wait for the new year to get going before I can put my head back into producing Christmas music! -- Will wait and see what happens.

If everything goes well, maybe Dan will start a list at this site. If something happens to our old home, it may hinder bookkeeping entries. Hoping for creative organization for the 2014 "Garritan Christmas Community CD" project. It really provides impetus for a close-knit community which has been one of our most greatest assets to date.

If it comes up again, I'm in- no matter which site. In fact, per my wife's suggestion, I have a piece in mind already.

I'm right with you, guys! I too have a song in mind and ideas for next year's project and just hope the bidding opens on a day when I see it beginning! A little nerve-wracking!

---well. This time last year, I had my piece arranged, and I was already testing mixes. Like a lot of Christmas CD contributors, I like having this as a project to turn to throughout the year - We're not starting off too well for this year's collection!

Please - We need to start this. We need to choose carols to work on.

I confess to working it a little bit even so... Hope no one is working on "Angels We Have Heard On High" for this year's potential offering.

Hi Guys

Let's definitely keep the tradition going!

It would be a good idea to keep the next album managed in this new forum.

Looking forward to the new songs. Let the tradition live on!

I just had a Gary Garritan sighting! (insert applause smiley)

Will you be starting The Thread here in this Christmas 2014 forum, so we can have an Official sign-up list going?

Wouldn't it be good to have the whole Garritan Community involved by letting people at NorthernSounds in on this? We've been trying to entice more of them to get involved here, but the majority seem to just be staying there, and that includes many past Christmas album contributors.

How about if I post a link in General Discussion there at NS to the official Christmas thread here at MM when it starts, so they can come to this Christmas forum to sign up? Do that, instead of trying to juggle song submission ideas in two locations - that could get messy. But I think you probably want the long-time Forum members at NS to be included, right?

--So, Gary - Should we just go ahead and consider Michael's "unofficial" list the Official list? I thought perhaps you would be starting a thread with the invite, regulations et al - but then, Michael does have all that together and in place. I just have no way of knowing if you'd like us to get on with it, or wait more for an official thread.
