The Garritan 10th Anniversary Christmas CD Is Here.

Postby Michael.B » Mon Dec 16, 2013 4:34 pm

Fred announced in the previous Christmas CD thread that this very special 10th anniversary Garritan Christmas CD is now available.

This can be downloaded free together with art work using the following link.

Garritan Community Christmas Album Volume 10

This tradition started by Gary 10 years ago, for me, is very special and a beautiful gift. I feel honoured and humble to have been part of this.

Thank you Gary. My thanks also to Dan who has worked so hard bringing it all to fruition, and to everyone who has gifted us all with their song/s.

I would also like to thank MakeMusic for continuing to support this project. Your page for this CD is beautiful.

Very best wishes to everyone and a very happy and blessed Christmas to you all. :D

Thank you very much, Michael, for starting a new thread for the album.

I just pointed out this observation at Northern Sounds, and I'll repeat it here:

--I clicked "view track" when my contribution, "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," was selected in the MP3 player. That brought up the Soundcloud page with just my piece. I saw there were already two comments posted on the timeline - And I had gone to this within the half hour that Fred posted about the album being up at MakeMusic. How could people have already listened and commented? I looked more carefully and was extremely surprised to see that one comment was posted THREE DAYS AGO, on the 13th. The other was posted yesterday, the 15th.---- ??? :?:

This means that apparently the files were up online DAYS ago, but we didn't know about it--? I don't understand at all.

Also - the download is only for MP3s, and they're not even full quality - We can't make our CDs from those. We must have the full resolution .wav files.----- I wonder if there's any hope for getting those?

EDIT: MYSTERY SOLVED - See several posts down for explanation.

I really want to know why the MP3s were posted online THREE DAYS ago, but we're only now knowing about them. People posted comments on Soundcloud postings of these that long ago - HOW did they even find these?--- This is so not making sense. They were actually available last Friday?!--We went through the weekend without knowing -- With the project over 2 1/2 weekends late, it's a bit aggravating that it turns out we could have had these 3 days ago, but for some mysterious reason, nobody told us.---- :?: :?: :?:

EDIT: MYSTERY SOLVED - See next post for explanation.

The mystery was solved!-- I don't know why the information wasn't posted here, but since it wasn't, I won't identify the source, I'll just pass on the info.

The upshot is that the Christmas tracks were indeed uploaded last Friday to SoundCloud, but then there was a snag with the CD graphics. Over the weekend those problems were fixed, and then MM was able to release the package on Monday. In the meantime, people who follow MM through SoundCloud were able to discover the tracks, play them and leave comments.

Aaah, I always feel better when odd, seemingly inexplicable things are resolved, don't you?

Sure am enjoying the music - And I'm very pleased to have my "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" wrapping the collection up there on the last track. Proud to be part of this project for seven years now!

So .. how is everyone doing with your CDs production? Are you getting them done ok?

I've just about finished making my CDs and nearly there with the art work. Should be finished by this evening all ready to send and give out. :D

How are you getting on?
