Private Messasges Not Sending ~ Going Into Out Box

Why is that when I try to send Private Messages, they go to the 'Out Box' folder instead of being sent straight away?

I have searched many times through all available settings to see if there is some setting delaying my messages.

I now have two messages that have been sitting in the 'Out Box' folder; one of them has been there two days!

Is this happening to others here or am I missing some setting somewhere to send my messages straight away?

I just replied to a PM I received a short while ago redgarding this post and this reply is now sitting in my 'Out Box' so I now have 3 messages waiting to go.

Hmmm, your post made me curious, Michael. I went to my PMs, and sure enough, I did have a message in my Out Box - just one, but I was surprised to see anything there. I opened the message - it was sent in early January!--or I should say, I tried to send it then. I have no idea if the recipient actually got the message, since I never heard back. Just now I tried sending it again, but it's still there in the Out Box.

Otherwise, I know my PMs have been going out, because I usually get a reply, and it's only this single message that somehow got stuck in the Out Box.

Something's amiss there - you're right!

Hello Randy,

Derrek responded with some trial PMs and now two of my messages have been sent at last.

For the last remaining message it might be the recipient isn't accepting PMs so I'll just delete that.

Here's hoping it's fixed now. I have asked Derrek if there's a way we can disable the 'Out Box' as I would prefer my messages to go straight away like they always did in Northern Sounds.

I don't suppose there is but no harm asking.

That's the only explanation that makes sense, if there isn't something wrong with the software. But don't email programs do the same thing--while you're composing, and before sending a message, a temporary copy is there in your Out Box - and it disappears once you click Send? I think so.

I'll keep an eye out on how this works though.

Since I am just another poster such as yourself, Michael, I have no idea if one can bypass the outbox. I can only hope your experience improves. Perhaps someone from MM or someone with experience in this BBS software can help us out.

The problem seems to be that my messages are in the 'Out Box' for ages, often a day or more, before disappearing. I'd be quite happy if the messages did disappear quickly after clicking send.

The other thing is that on more than one occasion a messasge has remained in my 'Out Box' making me think it hadn't gone. I then spent time looking for another way to send a message such as an email address only for me to receive a reply from the recipient .. and my message was still in the 'Out Box'.

I realise posting this here probably won't fix anything but it would be interesting to know if others here are having similar issues.

It's a curious thing. Again this morning, after seeing this thread again, I checked on the status of my PMs. That single message in my Out Box is still there, the same one I saw yesterday. It's a message I tried to send on Jan 4. The user I was contacting has only posted twice on the Forum; once in December and once in January. His name is still listed, so I don't think he's withdrawn totally from the Forum, but he's inactive. I suspect he doesn't have the setting turned on that allows receiving PMs, and that when a user hasn't turned that option on, the result is that our PMs to that user can't go out. When I tried to send that message again yesterday, it still just sat there.

So that's my experience with this issue. It seems to be different from yours Michael. I would say I know I've figured it out, as per my paragraph above, but that doesn't seem to explain the problems you've been having.
