How to convert partwise xml to timewise xml?

Postby nadyac » Sun Oct 18, 2015 6:57 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm brand new to MusicXML and I'm trying to figure out how to apply the timewise.xsl to partwise.xml documents to create timewise.xml documents. From my understanding, I need to use XSLT to convert the partwise.xml to timewise.xml using the xsl files. However, I have not been successful in finding a good free XSLT converter. I have tried running msxsl and I'm going to try Altova but I'm curious to know what others are using to convert partwise xml to timewise xml. Thank you!

It's been a while since I've looked at this as we test with internal or payware tools, but I think Saxon might work for this.

If you're using the timewise format, be sure to join the W3C Music Notation Community Group to make that known. The timewise format hasn't had much use so far. If that's changing that would be good to know in planning for future MusicXML versions.
