Finale MusicXML Dolet Round Trip - Instrument Setup

Postby .mjb » Wed Jul 29, 2015 11:35 pm

Is it possible to get Finale to set up the instrument sounds properly by using MusicXML syntax?

Here's what I've tried (Finale Dolet Round Trip):
I created a new document in Finale 2014d (OS X 10.9) using the wizard and set myself up with a no frills orchestra. I Then exported this new document to MusicXML using Dolet 6.5. I then imported the XML back into Finale using Dolet 6.5 but found that, in the Instrument List, each Instrument shows Device "missing".

I will try to attach before and after images of the Instrument List. Here is a sample score-part produced by Dolet on the export.
Code: Select all
<score-part id="P1">
  <part-name>Flute 1</part-name>
  <part-abbreviation>Fl. 1</part-abbreviation>
  <score-instrument id="P1-I1">
    <instrument-name>ARIA Player</instrument-name>
    <instrument-sound>wind.flutes.flute</instrument-sound>
    <virtual-instrument>
      <virtual-library>Garritan Instruments for Finale</virtual-library>
      <virtual-name>001. Woodwinds/1. Flutes/Flute Plr1</virtual-name>
    </virtual-instrument>
  </score-instrument>
  <midi-device>Bank 1</midi-device>
  <midi-instrument id="P1-I1">
    <midi-channel>1</midi-channel>
    <midi-program>1</midi-program>
    <volume>80</volume>
    <pan>-70</pan>
  </midi-instrument>
</score-part>

I am not sure why this is not working correctly. Could you please email me the original Finale file? If you are importing into an empty file with Dolet, could you please send that one too, or else your Finale default file? Thanks!

Sorry, I kind of "moved on" from this. But at some point I will try to replicate the problem and send you the files and steps to replicate.
