Possible XSD Documentation Error

Postby Evan Brooks » Thu Nov 06, 2014 1:31 am

Hi Michael,

The XSD documentation for the complexType "measure-style" says that:

"All but the multiple-rest element use a type attribute to indicate starting and stopping the use of the style."

However, the XSD documentation for the multiple-rest element states:

"The element text is ignored when the type is stop."

If the measure-style documentation is to be believed, the multiple-rest element should not use a type attribute to indicate stopping. What should one make of the multiple-rest documentation that tells us to ignore the element text when the type is stop? It sounds as if there should never be a stop type in a multiple-rest element.

Could you please shed some light on this? Thanks.

Hi Evan,

That's a stray sentence in the XSD and the documentation. As the XSD indicates, there is no type attribute for a multiple-rest element, so that sentence makes no sense. I've added this to our list of things to fix in the next MusicXML update. The DTD seems to have this correct. Thanks for pointing this out!
