Staff-size contents in a one-line staff?

Postby blmara » Sun Nov 04, 2007 12:44 pm

Hi,

I'm implementing a MusicXML encoder for my program. If I use staff-details element and the child staff-size, I understand this is the percentage of the height of default (5-line?) staff . But what if I want to describe a one-line percussion staff: how shall one calculate the staff-size?

Hi Marko,

The staff-size element just defines the size of a space on a given staff. It has no effect on a 1-line staff, since you need at least 2 lines to define a staff space. Note that the position attributes like default-y are always defined in terms of global tenths as specified in the scaling element, not in terms of local tenths as specified by the staff-size element.

Best regards,
