"Mockingbirds," Wind Ensemble, Grade 3

"Mockingbirds" is my latest Grade 3 piece for wind ensemble. I aimed to suggest mockingbirds' mimicking song and their competitive cacophony through imitative phrases and countermelodies. Program note: In the U.S., the mockingbird is the state bird of Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and Florida. They live throughout most of the U.S. and in parts of Canada and Mexico.

I created the piece in Finale with Garritan Personal Orchestra 4 and Garritan Concert & Marching Band 2 sounds.
