how to upload samples?

Postby djg33 » Tue Dec 31, 2013 10:01 am

I've searched the forum and cannot find a "how to" on uploading or posting samples or what file formats are acceptable. Please point me to the "how to" help files for this action.

Hi, djg33 - Glad to see you wanting to post here in the Media room. Something cool about this Forum is that you can directly upload an MP3 of your music if you want, as long as your project is original and not copyrighted by someone else.

As you write a post, look below the text box - you'll see "Upload attachment."

What I still do is link to where I have my music online. A lot of people like to have either webpages or storage sites like Box where their work can be collected, and then URLs to the MP3s are used for posting.

It works either way. - Now, hope to hear your music soon!--and I take it you do mean a music file, not actually "samples" as in the audio clips that software instruments are comprised of.

djg33 - Your post got me inspired to use the "Upload Attachment" feature since I had only seen other people use it, but hadn't tried it myself yet. I link to external sites usually, as I said earlier.

This works great! There's a 5 MB limit, so just make sure your MP3 is smaller than that. If it's larger, and really needs to be, then just get yourself an online storage site - that's a good thing to have anyway.

For this test, I uploaded a satirical thing I did awhile back, using Kazoo samples that I put together and played in ARIA. hehe. To have the link appear in this post, I just clicked "Place Inline" after uploading:

thus-hummed-zarathustra.mp3

EDIT: I should point out that you can also use the "SoundCloud" or "YouTube" buttons above the text box for linking to music you have posted at those sites.
