Re: Garritan Personal Orchestra 5 Indtall

When you install GPO5, the best bet, if you're installing the samples on the same drive as the program (i.e. C:\Program Files\Garritan\) is to let the installation program create the directories for you. It'll create a new directory in C:\Program Files\Garritan\ called "Personal Orchestra 5&quo...

Re: "What's new" or a comparison chart for GPO5?

GOS = Garritan Orchestral Strings, an older Garritan library based on the NI Kontakt player rather than ARIA. The percussive instruments all respond to 'Note On Velocity' e.g. harp, piano, etc. Legato instruments use the Mod Wheel, as before, to regulate note amplitude. This is the distinct differen...

Re: "What's new" or a comparison chart for GPO5?

I'm trying to find a list of the new features of a comparison chart between GPO4 and GPO5 before I go ahead and purchase the update. Anyone knows where I can find one? I'm can't seem to find it on the website. No, you're quite right, I don't think I've seen one either. Although there is a list of i...

Re: MIDI file rendering with GPO5/Standalone Aria player

As already answered, yes the ARIA player with GPO5 will do the job. Be aware though that, like many similar sample players, ARIA does NOT respond to normal MIDI Program Change and Bank Select messages. The sounds that can be loaded into a 'slot' in the ARIA player can be much more complex having man...

Re: Cannot Open GPO 4 .aria file in GPO 5

O-oh! Actually, you're supposed to save your home built ensembles using the save procedure in 'ensembles' and as an aria x file. (I think it says that in the manual.) Then they do port over from GPO4 to GPO5 successfully. The only aria file I have is a default one for presetting the reverb and uppin...

Re: GPO 5: Solo Violin: Modulating Vibrato

Hi there, Mr. IG: Well, it certainly isn't possible with the existing GPO samples, they already have vibrato in them and I haven't found a way of removing it without destroying the sound. Getting a a non-vibrato sound to work with in the first place is difficult. String players tend to add vibrato w...

Re: GPO 5: Solo Violin: Modulating Vibrato

Just to add a little perspective ... You've paid almost as much for a single instrument, $125 presumably, for their violin, compared to $149.95 for GPO5 which is a complete orchestra with hundreds of instruments. Would you say that it's a fair comparison? Would you be prepared to lay out another $12...

Re: Downloading Garritan 5

Hi, As far as I'm aware the two versions are separate downloads at this time. So you might have to download each one separately. Both, I believe, are in the order of 4.3/4.4 GigaBytes, i.e. much larger than GPO4 by several times. However, if you were to speak nicely to support, they might be able to...

Re: Adding a new midi device to Preferences in Aria

In my tutorials there's a section on using VSTi with programs that don't directly support them. For some time I used to use VSThost with a sequencing program called XGworks via LoopBe. LoopBe is like MIDI Yoke. There's another by Maple MIDI. They are all virtual MIDI cables. Essentially if your prog...

Re: Adding a new midi device to Preferences in Aria

Well, once Yoke is installed it should just show up in the list of devices that ARIA knows about.
Put a tick beside its name in the MIDI section of the tools/preferences window and press OK.
