Re: Selective Reverb

Cool.

I take it the Finale "Solo" expression (which increases volume, I believe) does not give you what you want.

Re: Selective Reverb

In Finale one can also group instruments into up to eight different instances of the Aria player, each with its own ambiance or convolution reverb. But AFAIK Finale has no automation capability that would allow reverb levels to change during a composition other than having "tracks" split/d...

Re: A question of 'divisi'.

The biggest effect I notice in Finale is when two layers play a unison (especially if they are on different channels). The sound really does increase. I agree that dividing a strong section does not halve the sound, although it does diminish it some, and I agree that the timbre is still that of two ...

Re: notes have turned grey on score

The red notes in measure four are layer two. So I doubt you only have layers in your second measure. Layer four is customarily blue, which might be mistaken for gray, and layer three is green which (especially if one has a little red/green color blindness) might also appear grayish. I hesitate to bl...

Re: notes have turned grey on score

That looks like notes in different layers (like layer 4) to me.

Re: individual outputs for drums in JABB

I take it this is something that can be done in a DAW but not in Finale. If that is not so, please let me know, because I have taken to using a non-Aria-based drum set to be able to balance volumes of the drums and traps in Finale notated drum sets for wav demo's.

Re: Newbie question

The kind of MIDI data Finale HP can "incorporate" is MIDI data entered when one is inputting through a MIDI keyboard (say, through Hyperscribe). I do not believe it means one can incorporate MIDI data added via the MIDI Tool while using HP. That is the difference.

Re: inner outer voice movements

Are you talking about using what Finale calls Layers? If so, yes, you can use layers to create two (or more) melodic lines on one staff. One can use "ritard" as a Finale command to slow music down. It usually helps to put a target tempo marking (shown or hidden) where you expect the slowin...

Re: Newbie question

Unfortunately, the user can't use HP and the MIDI Tool at the same time. Of course one can export a MIDI file from Finale and then use a DAW to take it further. That way, one can gain the benefit of Human Playback as a starting point, but of course one must also own a DAW (and know how to use it) t...

Re: Changing the bit rate of garritan audio.wav file

Does Finale 2011 use Export for the audio files (I no longer have F2011 up on my system to check)? At one point in the distant past (IIRC) one created an audio file by Save As... and specifying .wav format.
