May I suggest that a post over at Northern Sounds, the original forum that Gary Garritan set up some years ago, pre MakeMusic, would probably gather another, larger group of enthusiasts?
I've also discovered that there's a non-vibrato violin SFZ file, sadly there are no matching samples. Whose responsibility is it, I wonder, to produce expression maps for a library? Presumably when the Garritan libraries weren't 'tied in' to one notation program, it would be in their interest to pro...
This isn't one I've seen before. If I were you, I'd submit a bug report on the problem directly to the Garritan help desk. I don't know how often, if ever, the Garritan people look at this site, but you're much more likely to get a response by reporting it directly. The other option is to go over to...
Well, I certainly haven't heard of that happening before. As far as I know, they didn't alter the samples included at all going from 5.0 to 5.01, it was just the ARIA player and some of the sfz files. So I can't explain what has happened there. Sorry, John.
you will get two instances of ARIA, numbered player 1 and player 2, and it's simply channels 1 to 16 again, and in each further instance if you go beyond 2.
At installation, where is the "data" file located (on a Mac) to install the appropriate GPO5 file? Hi Norman, Owning a PC and not a Mac, I can't answer your question directly with any confidence. However, on a PC the file s are normally installed within a directory (folder?) called Progra...
Er! The 'tune' control alters the sound by cents, i.e. hundredths of a semitone. So you can tune the whole instrument up or down a maximum of just a single semitone, i.e +/-100 cents. Otherwise, as you say Credo, it's a case of editing the sfz files. But many programs allow you to indicate an octave...
Thanks David, Yes, I knew that, but it's not a patch on the properly printed manual with a colour front cover, and still not as easy to read as a properly formatted manual. I have printed parts of the GPO5 html manual. I must admit that the on-line html manual must be easier to keep up to date. John.
The good thing about GPO4 was that the manual was in pdf format. I can't understand why they didn't do the same for GPO5. That meant it could be printed, which is what I tend to do with all/most manuals, unless they're hundreds of pages, but even then I print sections of them. I like to read a secti...
