Re: GPO5 with Notion?

My pleasure, Fleer. Is anyone doing anything yet to do the customisation, that you're aware of? I've noticed a tendency of less participation by the people that did this sort of thing in the past in most forums. I don't know if they genuinely have 'moved on' or if, due to lack of appreciation, they ...

Re: GPO5 used with Encore 5.0.4.875

My pleasure, hope you get Encore sorted out. I added episode 2 to my tutorial yesterday. However I'm still going through a summary of what's in the package. Episode 2 covered the sample library. Episode 3 (in preparation) will summarise what's in the ARIA program and start to deal with the various w...

Re: GPO5 used with Encore 5.0.4.875

I think a query with Passport is the 'way to go'. Re. MIDI Yoke, it's a virtual MIDI port. In other words it lets you connect one MIDI 'program' to another. So, for instance, one can connect the output of Encore to MIDI Yoke and the input of ARIA stand alone version to the output of MIDI Yoke. Then ...

Re: GPO5 used with Encore 5.0.4.875

After a quick look at the Encore manual it would seem, from a very brief perusal, that it has only just added VSTi support to version 5. Is that correct?
In which case it may well have no scripting facility yet.
I couldn't find a description of how to set up VSTi there.

Re: GPO5 used with Encore 5.0.4.875

Hee hee! Fast response was just when I happened to log in. You might try to find out if a list of rules is published anywhere for their 'rules' file. Then check to see where, if anywhere, there's a set for GPO4. GPO5 has a great deal of 4 within it. But as far as notation rules are concerned it woul...

Re: GPO5 used with Encore 5.0.4.875

John, Most notation programs have to have a set of 'rules' written (I'm guessing there's a set for GPO4 in Encore). It usually takes an individual user, sometimes the program makers, to create this set of rules. Garritan has published one, naturally, for the products they are affiliated to, Finale, ...

Re: GPO5 with Notion?

I think any inclusion of 'rules' for Notion is going to come from active users over there.
Have you tried the Notion forum over at PreSonus? It just may be that it's a bit too early yet?
It seems that Finale users are still struggling with the product judging by remarks in their forum.

Re: Question About Panning In GPO5

Michael, Trying to recall instrument positioning from many visits to the UK promenade concerts, and watching the same on TV, certainly the modern layout of orchestral strings seems to be the norm. But with notable exceptions. Barenboim often went for a pre Stokowski layout. The layout of woodwind, b...

Re: Question About Panning In GPO5

We can only mess a little bit with ARIA. The way it was designed was so that the user interface was editable by a well known procedure, namely xml, which is in the public domain. They also chose to use a sound font editor format called sfz which was also put into the public domain. So ARIA is 'just'...

Re: Question About Panning In GPO5

Thanks for the feedback, Michael. I must admit, I tend to agree with you. For orchestral layouts I've tended to use the GPO4 defaults. However I do often create small ensembles where I move things about to give more separation. These things will only get moved by MM, I believe if a ticket is raised ...
