Re: Instrument still sounds from keyboard when ModWhl = 0%

Hi David, No, note on, velocity 0, is equivalent to MIDI note off. I'm reading the MMA MIDI specification. Velocity, for a note on, is only 1 to 127. So one should, in theory, expect some extremely small volume level. Many/most devices/VSTi produce 0 with value 1. Correct? A matter of conjecture. I ...

Re: Instrument still sounds from keyboard when ModWhl = 0%

David, You may experience problems with the sfz editor, I did. Remember that ARIA has extensions beyond the sfz2 specification which it's unlikely that the editor supports. Just use Notepad. It works just fine for me. If you're really interested in getting into sfz programming try getting a copy of ...

Re: Instrument still sounds from keyboard when ModWhl = 0%

Hi Davidintexas, You don't mention which instrument you have loaded into the 'slot' you're playing. For percussive sounds, e.g. piano, harpsichord and pizzicato strings, mod wheel (cc#1), breath (cc#2) and expression (cc#11) controllers have no effect anyway. Only note on velocity affects level, as ...

Re: using JABB et al

Hi Tas, Hope you had a good Christmas. As something of a MIDI geek (see my signature) I can quite understand your frustration about "cc's" etc. Put very simply there are two main features of MIDI. 1. Commands that tell a sound creating device, or software (e.g. ARIA), which note to play, a...

Re: mod wheel control?

Hi Paul, Thanks John and Fabio, I like the idea above very much - so i assume i would be able to play the casio w/ its' weighted keys, and control the 3 relevant effects thru this MIDI KB. So MIDI controller>Casio via MIDI in>to iMAC vis USB right? Are you questioning MIDI controllers ability to for...

Re: Is there any workaround to control tremolo speed?  <SOLVED>

Hi Peter, Aha! I see you do mean tremolo, not vibrato. Yes, there is just one tremolo speed with no adjustment. There is a reason for this. Take a look at the following notation from the Finale help file: http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb393/SysExJohn/Tremolo_zps1713c06b.jpg showing how tremolo...

Re: Which keyboard is best for the ARIA player?

Hi Shortstop, There is no such thing as a "best for ARIA" keyboard, but best for you and allows you to control ARIA. For instance, I prefer a keyboard with a 'waterfall' action and use a Novation 25 key controller keyboard that can sit on my lap whilst I input to a sequencer program. It wo...

Re: Is there any workaround to control tremolo speed?  <SOLVED>

Hi Peter, I take it by tremolo speed you mean vibrato rate and depth? Sadly there is no way in GPO4 to adjust this. It is a much requested feature. See the thread "tell me what you want, what you really, really want" in the General part of the forum, and all the following requests. It requ...

Re: mod wheel control?

Hi Shortstop, Unfortunately the pitch bend wheel works in a completely different way to all the other MIDI controllers. For a start you will notice that it always returns to the centre position. Other controllers do not usually return to a fixed position or, where a few do, they return to the lowest...

Bug in GPO4 Oboe d'Amore sfz file ... fixed.

Greetings All, After creating a rendering of the 1st aria in Bach's BWV 170 I noticed a nasty 'glitch' in the Oboe d'Amore part where a C4 was being held for a relatively long time. I played it on the stand alone Aria player and sure enough both the C4 and the B below glitched. Investigating the app...
