Re: simple setup to have 2 audio outputs from different chan

If you only need two outputs, and a mono mix is good enough, then you could split the stereo output built into your Mac with a Y cable and PAN the desired instruments to one side or the other. This isn't the ideal method, but it would work in a pinch. Just as an example: http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Y...

Re: Making Personal Orchestra sound good.

Sorry I can't give "Logic Specifics", but here are some ideas that are surely relevant, and are most likely possible in Logic. 1. Randomize (or dequantize) start and release times of notes in each track across an instrument section. I.E. Many DAWs have the ability to set real time track at...

Re: Does Aria Player support ReWire???

No, out of the box, the standalone ARIA player doesn't support ReWire. There is a product, also developed by Plogue (the same people who built Aria) that would make it possible to host plugins like ARIA and send the output via ReWire. It's called Bidule: http://www.plogue.com/products/bidule/ They d...

Re: Cornettos

A Shawm is a double reed (like an oboe) and does not have the sound of a zink or cornetto. I play in a group of early musicians and the zink player has a mouthpiece like a trumpet. I play the shawn (poorly I might add) so I know what it sounds like (well at least what I sound like when I play it). ...

Re: PO4 multi stereo system

Are you shooting for 'surround sound', as in 6-8 channel mixes (front rear, sides, and sub-bass)? Are you trying to set up some kind of live stage plus mains monitoring system for performance venues? If your primarily just mixing 'music' in a home studio, and don't need to fuss with true surround so...

Re: Cornettos

Hi I am working on the Missa Bruxellensis from Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber in Finale 2012. Two Cornettos (Cornet/Zink; medieval/baroque instrument) play an important part. I am looking for the best garritan sound for that. At the moment I use piccolo which is not satisfying of course. Trumpet do...

Re: sync two computers playing back?

Credo, I read your reply more than several times, just trying to digest and absorb the info. You wrote: "Having MIDI interfaces connected between the two PCs are a common way to do this, but it's also possible given the right drivers to do it with modem/serial ports and null cables, or even ov...

Re: New to PO4

Credo, Why in the world haven't you written a book on all of this. Your understanding of the issues and ability to express solutions in down-to-earth ways that are clear and concise are without compare. I will reload my Cubase software and begin to explore. Incidentally, due to an accident many yea...

Re: New to PO4

After years of asking, you have just given me the best answer. I actually believe this may work for me. One other question. I assume these settings are good only when playing live and would be of no particular use when entering music to the score? Again with great thanks, Tom That depends upon your...

Re: Sibelius and GPO4

It usually does a good job for me. One thing I've noticed is that scores that have been IMPORTED from an XML that was built using some other scoring package sometimes don't interpret properly (and playback interpretation probably was bad for the person who built the original score as well). The reas...
