Re: Imprting multiple lyrics on one note into Finale

This type of layout is designed to save paper at the expense of musical intelligibility. Yes, not only for paper! Also for android smartphones. Here is another example, that fits into a smartphone screen: * Gaudeamus igitur If you need to keep the repeats, another approach would be to use lyric num...

Re: Imprting multiple lyrics on one note into Finale

I'm just implementing my android app with "multiVerse-Extention" like this: http://notizblog.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/multiverse.png Any idea? PS: The processing instruction verseCount="4" is needed, because otherwise I would need nested repeats or "ca capo" with t...

Re: Imprting multiple lyrics on one note into Finale

Do you have an example you can post? Typically a first ending would have a lyric in verse 1 and a second ending would have a lyric in verse 2. But the question is: What should be exported, if both repeats/endings belong to the same verse? Example: ⋅  song book (left page: "Erneuter S...

Re: lyric in ending / syllable division (hyphenation)

Michael Good wrote:…Or, perhaps better, use an XML processing instruction …

The XML processing instruction disappears, if somebody shows the MusicXML in a browser, but that's no problem for me. Thank you very much! 8-)

PS for other readers: "lyric in repeats / ending" are discussed in this topic.

Re: Looking for an HTML Viewer

@bstrum: What should be shown on your HTML-Page? If you need graphics with notes on staves, Michael already said: "people who have tried to do that have found it difficult". If Text is OK for you, XSLT may be a simple solution. If you need graphics: Is SVG OK? Or is PNG better? PS: Both fo...

Re: Imprting multiple lyrics on one note into Finale

… assigning ALL the lyrics to verse one. … I think, what Geoof means, are verses = strophes, and that's what I mean also. In MusicXML <lyric number="1"> and <lyric number="2"> seem to mean "line 1" or "line 2" in the same verse, not different verses/strophes ...

Re: Nested repeats in Music Xml

I never saw a ”sheet of music” with nested repeats. Is that usual? Do musicians understand that?

Re: Imprting multiple lyrics on one note into Finale

What do you think, how lyric in repeats and endings should be exported? There have to be two lines that belong to the same verse. It could be exported as <lyric number="1.1"> and <lyric number="1.2">. But I think, that´s not specified anywhere. I've a similar problem, mentioned i...

Re: Looking for an HTML Viewer

You can add an XSLT processing instruction to the MusicXML file or you can call a XSLT Transformer from command line (e.g. by a windows VBA script).

lyric in ending / syllable division (hyphenation)

Hello, my name is Torsten and i'm MusicXML newbie. I want to store a songbook/hymnal including background music in one file per song. E.g. this songbook has 811 songs: ⋅  Allgemeines_Deutsches_Kommersbuch I think about MusicXML, but i've two problems/questions: ⋅ How do I store l...
