How to specify a score revision

After having done some searching, I have not been able to find a way to specify revision text for a given score. My idea is to be able to identify ongoing revisions of the same score - this could be a simple number, compound number (1.2), or text (draft, release, release 2, etc). Are there any plans...

backup and duration values

When reading in MusicXML data, I come across backup nodes. Most of the time, it simply indicates either moving to the next voice. However, there are times when it contains a duration node. After having read the documentation, I am still unclear as to how to interpret the duration value. What is it's...

Creator node and type values

After having searched in the documentation, I have not found a definitive list of accepted values for the type attribute of the <creator> node.
Code: Select all
<creator type="???">text value</creator>

Does such a list exist ?

Confusion over octave-shift

After having done some research, it would appear that the MusicXml documentation for this element is the inverse of its normal use. What do I mean by this ? I have read that 8va means play this "at the octave" and 8vb means play this "at the octave below" [source: Essential Dicti...

Re: 'extend' notes in lyrics.

Thank you Michael for your clarification.
One further thing, though.

The documentation states that the type attribute is not required.
However, would it be correct to say that it is recommended, notably when "extending" over multiple notes ?

Re: 'extend' notes in lyrics.

Hi Michael, Forgive me for chipping in on this one, I need to get some clear directions so as to unblock a situation. From what I have understood in this thread, this is how the <extend/> node should be used. 1. In the case where the duration of a syllable goes over one extra note (two notes in tota...

Ties, slurs and voltas

Once common need is to be able to indicate that the last note or chord in a volta, is tied or slurred to the beginning of the repeat section. Equally, to be able to indicate that the first note or chord of a repeat section is tied or slurred from the previous section. Is it possible to indicate this...

Re: Applying XSL to 3.0 xml produces 2.0 xml

Thank you Michael,
I'll update the DTD statement.
Can you confirm, though, that the XSL will indeed produce correct 3.0 xml, ie: there is no risk of anything being lost ?
