Re: MusicXML Player problems

Hi all, I have been writing a MusicXML Player in Visual C++ .NET, and have come across some problems with how to play certain constructs. I know that a few people are also writing musicXML players, and so I thought I'd ask for help with people who have already thought around this. It's mostly to do...

Re: musicXML web service

Hello Árpád, > ... but what about this for now: it is possible to call music notation software's executable from server-side scripting engines like php. Of course this works only if they can be parametered from command-line to do the transformation between musicXML/proprietary format/images, pdf, m...

Re: Problem with chord

Hi, If I build a chord with miscellaneous note lengh, (here a half note and a quarter note) it is imported in Finale as two half... We have also had much discussion on this subject in the abc users list. It's not really a problem with MusicXML or abc, more a problem with conventional staff notation...

Re: Grace note question

That's an interesting question. There certainly are cases where this is the way the music is written, though not many, to my knowledge. What kind of music do you want this for? This feature was asked by some users and I included this in my program many times ago. Grace notes after the note are rare...

Re: Free software for rendering MusicXML documents?

I'm looking for Free software which is able to render simple MusicXML scores into PDF, PS or EPS format. Is anybody able to point me to a suitable resource? How about the combination of xml2abc < http://home.austin.rr.com/johner/abc2xml /> and abcm2ps < http://freshmeat.net/projects/abcm2ps />? The...

Re: Xenoage MusicXML Player Applet 0.1 released

Andreas, I have now installed java 1.4.1, and that seems to have fixed the problem with OS X.

Re: Xenoage MusicXML Player Applet 0.1 released

On Wednesday, October 15, 2003, I have tried to fix the bug in my applet for several hours, but I was not successful. The problem seems to be, that I can not obtain Java's sequencer outside the init method of the applet in the Opera browser. The same thing works without problems in IE. It seems to b...

Re: Xenoage MusicXML Player Applet 0.1 released

Andreas, I'm seeing the same problem as Brian, running on Mac OS X 10.2.6, with java version 1.3.1. It doesn't seem to be browser specific, as it happens with Internet Explorer, Safari and iCab.

Re: Modal key signatures

Hi Michael, If we have a tune in F mixolydian (tonic is F, scale includes B-flat and E-flat), what key signature would you use for this? One flat (as if it were F major) or two flats (as in the scale degrees)? I would think two flats, and our MusicXML definition of modes works accordingly. But the p...

Re: fonts, SVG and musicXML

Yes, very helpful. Thanks. The reason I'm avoiding making the beam tilt is that I'd then have to calculate the length of each stem. I guess that would be just the intersection of two lines, but I'm not sure how to calculate that. Any tips? Drawing beams is probably the most complicated part of draw...
