Re: MusicXML on web page

Very interesting, but doesn't really work for me, since I don't have a Palm, and I don't wish to create scores in .abc format. I do my score creation in Finale. Looks like all the converters are one-way, from abc to other formats. But I'm glad somebody's trying! I also have this crazy idea of viewin...

Re: MusicXML on web page

All my scores are in Finale, which I can now export in MusicXML format. If I could then import directly to a plugin format, it would be much easier than printing and scanning the scores, which I assume would be necessary to produce a PDF file. On top of which, I don't have Adobe Acrobat. Hello Paul ...

Re: MusicXML on web page

My primary use for a web plug-in that displays music would be the easy dissemination of charts which I write to musicians who will play them so they can practice the music before we get together to play it. I've never been able to successfully do this with other tools. Even when the Finale plug-in w...

Re: MusicXML on web page

Oh, we need it, all right. It would be huge. We've had conversations about this on this board for at least the last year, and many people are dying for it. I was frankly stunned when I looked at Myriad - it looks great! And MusicXML import capability would open up a world of possibilities. Finale, b...

RE: Xenoage MusicXML Player Applet 0.1 released

RE: Source list

I'm having trouble getting it, too. If I click on the link in your email, it opens in my browser as described by Brian G. If I right click on it, I get no "Save Target As" choice. I guess my browser doesn't know how to deal with an .SVG file. Maybe you could zip it? Paul Mindrup Try downloading it a...

RE: modes

One of the "advantages" of XML is that it's not forgiving like HTML. The specification says that a parser must throw an error if a document is not well-formed. Paul I realize I am going to sound like an XML newbie with this question, and rightfully so, since I am one. And so, having nothing to lose,...

RE: SVG vs. CSS

Well, you could use XSLT to transform the input and output the glyphs you want... The only reason I'm bringing this up is that everyone's got a browser and not everyone has an SVG viewer. Paul CSS is a text-oriented stylesheet. I suspect one could do some notation using CSS and music fonts, but it d...

SVG vs. CSS

I never learned CSS very well - could someone summarize what SVG has that CSS doesn't that makes it a compelling choice for music notation?

Sample Batik font conversion

OK, here's some sample ttf2svg output for the first 2 characters from the Jazz font. Assuming you have the ttf2svg binary (available from http://xml.apache.org/batik/ttf2svg.html ), you would use a command line like: java -jar batik-ttf2svg.jar <path to font location goes here>\Jazz____.ttf -l 33 -h...
