Re: Endings (voltas) and tied notes

More questions about sanity of MusicXML: Nested repeats: I see no problem in writing two repeats at the same place in MusicXML. The problem might be showing it in the notation program. (Used my creativity to show it - both Finale and Musescore ignores the double repeats). See the attachment below: T...

Re: XML Tab Notation to Midi

Thanks again. I noticed that my program was not tolerant concerning upper case letters in the extension ".xml". And separate tracks for each string can solve the problem. However - about the MusicXML commands: I don't think that upper case letters are allowed. But I am not sure. But I thin...

Re: XML Tab Notation to Midi

Thanks. This is very interesting for me. The vibrato is defined with: <other-technical>vibrato</other-technical> and for bend: <technical><string>3</string><fret>7</fret></technical> The MusicXML DTD says: "The other-technical element is used to define any technical indications not yet in the M...

Re: XML Tab Notation to Midi

Interesting because I implemented vibrato, but realised that MusicXML does not have vibrato.
(I misunderstood the word and thought that tremolo and vibrato was the same).

Do you have a small MusicXML file with vibrato? (to upload)

Re: Endings (voltas) and tied notes

More endings: This example with volta+repeat seems to me to be totally insane. Because entering Volta 2 with a repeat start will make the repeat number be 1. This means measure 3 should not be played the first time. However, I have the feeling that musicians might think otherwise. And both Finale an...

Endings (voltas) and tied notes

Wanted to produce these notes (see attached jpg: Endings.jpg) with endings(voltas) and tied notes into the endings. The other attached file: Endings.xml has <tie type="start"/> in the first measure and <tie type="stop"/> in both measure 2 and 3. This seems to me to be sane MusicX...

Re: microtone in XML

Since the file "Ms.Lee.xml" has no semi-notes, it looks like OpenMusic does not export the notes
right.

Re: microtone in XML

To me it seems like microtones are covered in MusicXML, e.g. <pitch> <step>E</step> <alter>0.5</alter> <octave>5</octave> </pitch> (From the Lilypond test suite, example "01d-Pitches-Microtones.xml") The MusicXML DTD, "note.mod" says: "Decimal values like 0.5 (quarter tone s...

Re: Lyrics - to which note does syllable belong?

Added it as an issue on W3C. Proposed to add it to note.mod:
schema/note.mod
<!ATTLIST lyric
number NMTOKEN
name CDATA
+ %time-only
%justify;
%position;
%placement;
%color;
%print-object;
