Re: MusicXML spec website search

Thank you Mogens, This is a better way to do the search, but I do feel that the http://www.musicxml.com site should deal exclusively in MusicXML! I really want + signs between whole time signatures as in the attached picture I can use multiple time signatures but 'time-relation' does not include a p...

MusicXML spec website search

If I go to http://www.musicxml.com and do a search I get hits from finale documentation which swamp the musicxml hits which I want. For instance if you search for "time-signature" you get pages and pages of finale documentation hits and it's difficult to find the MusicXML specification of ...

Multiple time signatures

Is there a way of notating in MusicXML the multiple time signatures with + between as at the top of p.180 in Gould?
Thanks

Re: illogical <forward> element in samples

I see. It is a little confusing but I see the motivation now.
Thanks

illogical <forward> element in samples

There are various places in the sample XML files where the <forward> element seems to be used illogically. For instance in BrahWiMeSample.xml line 1057 <measure number="3" width="217"> <forward> <duration>32</duration> <voice>1</voice> <staff>1</staff> </forward> <backup> <durati...

crescendo and diminuendo

In MusicXML 4.0 could we have a type attribute in the <direction><direction-type><words> element to indicate what sort of words they are? Normally markings such as cresc. and dim. are represented in <words> elements and as dynamics these need to be aligned with other dynamics instructions, e.g. pp, ...

Re: question about creating a simple application

Hi John, What you are proposing is by no means simple! Especially if you want to implement a graphical user interface allowing the user to place notes on a stave. You could consider using a simple textual description of the music like Lilypond or Opusmodus (opusmodus.com) and convert that to MusicXM...

Saltarello <ending> error?

In the Saltarello sample there are 2 <ending> elements in bar 9, the second of which is a discontinue on the right barline. To my mind this is not correctly represented in Saltarello.png which shows the second time bar bracket covering bar 9 and bar 10 with a vertical jog at both ends. I think the x...

'sostenuto' pedal and 'una corda' pedal  <SOLVED>

Hi, I have searched in vain for a direction-type element for the sostenuto and una corda (soft) piano pedals (viz. Gould p.333). The pedal direction-type seems to be only for notating the sustaining pedal. I notice that they are included in the sound element, but not in the pedal direction-type, or ...

missing microtone accidentals

I need "accidental-value" definitions for the microtone accidentals which consist of a double-sharp or a double-flat with up or down arrows, but they are not there. I know this topic has been touched on before, but is there any specific plan to add these in a forthcoming release of the spe...
