Re: How to represent note 'H' in MusicXML?

I think this can be done like this:
Code: Select all
<harmony>
  <root>
    <root-step text='H'>B</root-step>
  </root>
  <kind text='7'>dominant</kind>
</harmony>

I don't know how many applications will support this, but this is the way it can be done in MusicXML.

Re: write code music xml

or do I write the file in oxygen and then open it in Sibelius ? Yes, write in oxygen, open in Sibelius when ready. Keep in mind that MusicXML isn't designed to be typed by hand. The best way to encode sheet music as MusicXML is to create a score with a score-editor (Finale, Sibelius, MuseScore, ......

Re: Calculating note start times

That's not an easy task. Start here: http://forums.makemusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2629 To do this you need to understand the <divisions>, <duration> element and it's meaning inside <backup>, <forward> and <note> elements. Be aware of the <chord> and <grace> elements. Documentation can be fou...

Re: grace note

Things went faster as we expected, the new functionality is already deployed.
Can you please check whether this fixes the type-less gracenote problem?

Thanks!

Re: grace note

Hi Christof, I created some files with type-less grace-notes and run them trough the MusicXML Sanitizer. The log file shows: 'Unknown note-type undefined' but the Sanitizer couldn't fix it. I wrote a plugin in the Sanitizer to add <type>eighth</type> to grace notes without type. Off course this chan...

MusicXML Sanitizer/Validator

http://www.musicxmlsanitizer.io Together with the MusicXML Community Meeting we launched our MusicXML Sanitizer/Validator. It scans trough a MusicXML file and searches for semantical errors and tries to fix them. When using the sanitizer you'll get a download with a 'corrected' MusicXML file and a ...

Re: 'sostenuto' pedal and 'una corda' pedal  <SOLVED>

Also, look at Gould's Behind Bars page 333. There should be a system to distinguish several pedals at the same time, similar to the number attribute with slurs (and others). And take a look at page 335-336, but maybe this isn't within the scope of MusicXML (never saw it in other than experimental mu...

Re: diffrence between backup and forward

I see, so when processing a forward element with voice and/or staff set it's essentially the same as a rest with print-object="no"
Thanks!
