Re: Proposed changes for MusicXML 0.8

Hi Michael, thank you for your reply We are thinking about adding some sort of <supports> element to MusicXML. This would be handy for the Sibelius plug-in, for instance. Sibelius lets us get at the <alter> data but not the <accidental> data, so we don't write out any <accidental> elements. A MusicX...

Re: Proposed changes for MusicXML 0.8

Hi Michael, In addition to adding the <link> and <bookmark> elements, several other changes are planned for MusicXML 0.8 based on our experience with writing translation software: [...] > 5) The <type> element will be clarified by listing the supported values. I've just read your list of changes for...

MusicXML to Lilypond converter

Hi, I'm working on a MusicXML to Lilypond converter: it is at http://www.nongnu.org/xml2ly /, where you can find more information. It is pretty usable already, but I decided to tag it with low numbers (0.0.xx) because of two reasons: - it is one of my very first programs - I consider it a sort of pr...

Re: duration and divisions

Not necessarily. If you have a sequence of three half-triplets, the you could take a divisions-value of 3 for that measure. Right! I hadn't thought about that! The problem I see (see the time-ambiguity thread) is, that the <duration> elements defines a second, independent, timeline. You can have 'n...

duration and divisions

Hi, as I unveiled in my preceding mail I'm working on a MusicXML to Lilypond converter. Now I have some questions about the <divisions> and <duration> elements, that are in some way related with the previuous thread "Time-Ambiguity". I refer to files from the Gutemberg Music Project which makes avai...

SVG fonts (was RE: The Midixml.dtd)

On another subject, music fonts: I obtained the MusixTeX metafonts and took a look at the feasibility of converting them to SVG. I do know that metafont uses Bezier curves extensively and as of yet I haven't seen that they exist in SVG. Doesn't mean they aren't their, just that I haven't found them...

forward and backup

Hi, I'm rather new to MusicXML and I'm sorry if this is a trivial question, but I cannot figure out this matter without any help. I'm trying to understand the way MusicXML deals with polyphony: I've read the thread about the backup element and got some hints, but I still cannot understand these thin...
