Re: Namespace URI for MusicXML

Hi Michael, I wouldn't need it to be specified as a target namespace for my purposes, just that the namespace URI be established. However, I don't think that the addition of the namespace in and of itself would break anything. What would cause things to break would be the addition of a namespace pre...

Chord types in MusicXML Schema

While looking at the enumeration of the kind element I found some differences in the sevenths chord from what I am use to seeing. In particular the values 'dominant' and 'major-minor'. According to the references I checked, these should be defined as follows: dominant (major triad, minor seventh, V ...

Namespace URI for MusicXML

Has a namespace URI been established for MusicXML? I am preparing to release some Perl modules for version 2.0 and would like to use an establish URI if available.

Thanks,

Re: MusicXML 2.0 W3C XML Schema beta test begins

Mario, The use of groups is making your content model ambiguous to a parser because it cannot create a Deterministic Finite Automaton for it. To show you what is happening, I will compare to original content model from the DTD with that in your schema. Original: <!ELEMENT metronome ((beat-unit, beat...

Re: MusicXML Player problems

Hector and Joachim, I don't see a need for a second pass with the existing format, at least not for playing files, unless you are talking about playing as you parse. I don't that can be done without first decomposing the note elements into note-on and note-off events since note elements cannot in al...

Backup help

I have taken the backup bull by the horns and created an XSL style sheet that should resolve any problems the backup, forward, and chord elements may create. The style sheet calculates the start, end, and next values for the immediate children of the part element in a timewise MusicXML score. The en...

Re: MusicXML Player problems

Marcelo, TreeMap should solve your problem. As you parse keep track of time in a long, create a Long and use it as the key for the put() method and a Vector containing your object for the object. Test for each key using containsKey(); if it already exists, get the associated Vector and add the new o...

Strict Typing, Code Generation, Perl, etc.

I agree with Michael's choice of DTD versus Schema since I have found that strict typing is possible with DTDs using parameter entities and a customized DTD parser. The MusicXML DTDs already provide a lot of type definition, which could easily be enhanced without the problems of creating a Schema. F...

musicxml-index

While updating my UML model for MusicXML to version 1.1, I found the following minor discrepancies in the very helpful index spreadsheet. bend-sound Attribute vs Entity first-beat, common.dtd, Attribute, 1.0 (bend-sound entity) omitted size, common.dtd, Values + large When complete, I will make my v...

Re: UML model for MusicXML

Here is the url for my UML model: http://www.amwoodproducts.com/uml.html There is interest. :) Joey. I have created a UML model for MusicXML using ArgoUML, and open-source UML tool. It currently models all elements, their attributes, and their contents. I have begun the process of creating generaliz...
