You can check the Aria Player version and the Aria Engine version on the Settings tab of the Aria player. If you cannot find it, you probably do not have a recent version.
The newer versions of the player also have a link to check for updates.
The various Garritan libraries (perhaps excepting the new piano) all use the same Aria player. Finale's Human Playback settings activate the Jazz expressions (how well, I am not willing to say). If you are using the sounds outside of Finale, I guess you have to create the effects yourself.
My Aria player has no trouble accessing both GPO and GPO 5 from the same player. I used the standard installation. Are you sure your installation was not corrupted, that you have the most recent Aria player(s), and that you have authorized both the GPO and GPO 5 files?
